When I reached out to Rosalind four years ago, I was the deputy director of a county health department - a strong second-in-command to the county health director, but unsure of my leadership skills to take the next step in my career. Within a year of working with Rosalind, I was appointed county health director in a larger neighboring county and since then have been leading a staff of 1,500 with a budget of $950M to address our county's response to society's most pressing health challenges: COVID-19, homelessness, mental illness, and racial disparities in health. I attribute my growth and advancement over the last four years to my work with Rosalind. Rosalind helped me identify the skills and instincts that I already possessed, and recognize and hone them as the qualities of a leader. She provided me with feedback and advice that was frank, challenging, and supportive, helping me develop my ability to navigate complex situations and communicate clearly.
